Guide to Enabling Voice Chat
Proximity Voice Chat on our Server works for PC players ONLY
Proximity Voice Chat on Our Server (Java Edition)
We use the Simple Voice Chat mod to add real, positional voice to Minecraft. When you speak, only players near you in-game hear you, and the volume fades with distance. It’s optional, but it massively improves the emersion. To use it, you’ll need to install a mod loader such as Fabric, NeoForge, Forge, or Quilt. Then just add the Simple Voice Chat mod that matches your exact Minecraft version and loader into your mods folder. Launch the modded client and join the server!
Choose the Right Mod Loader
If you don’t already run mods, you’re going to have to make a choice. If you already play modpacks, you are probably using NeoForge, Forge, or Quilt which will all work. The most important things are that your loader, Minecraft profile, and voice chat mod all need to target the same game version you launch. If you switch profiles (1.21.1 to 1.21.3), you need the matching mod file for that profile.
Installing the Loader
Run the official installer for your chosen loader, select Client, pick your exact Minecraft version, and install. Then launch Minecraft with the new loader profile so it creates the mods folder if you don’t already have one. If you use a custom launcher (Prism, MultiMC, ATLauncher), create a new instance, select your loader + version, and launch that instance. Some loaders (especially Fabric/Quilt) may require a small helper mod for other mods to work (e.g., Fabric API); if the game complains, add what it asks for.
- Windows mod folder:
Win + R→%appdata%\.minecraft\mods - macOS mod folder:
~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/mods - Linux mod folder:
~/.minecraft/mods
Add the Simple Voice Chat Mod
Download Simple Voice Chat for your loader (Fabric/Quilt/NeoForge/Forge) and the exact Minecraft version you launch. Drop the .jar into your mods folder and restart the game using the loader profile you installed. You’re now set to connect to the server with voice support enabled.
Configure Your Mic In-Game (First Join)
Join the server and open the voice chat menu (Options → Controls/Key Binds → Voice Chat). Inside that menu, pick your Microphone (Input) and Headphones/Speakers (Output), then run the built-in mic test. Choose Push-to-Talk (recommended) or Voice Activation (tune sensitivity to avoid background noise). When you talk, the mic icon should light up and nearby players will hear you with 3D positional audio.

Quick setup:
- Set Input = your mic, Output = your headphones
- Mic Test → adjust levels so you’re clear but not clipping
- Pick Push to talk or Voice Activation and set key/sensitivity
- Verify the mic icon changes when you talk
Troubleshooting
- Version mismatch (most common): Your loader profile, Minecraft version, and Simple Voice Chat mod must match. PLEASE make sure they do.
- Missing helper mod: Fabric often needs Fabric API. The error text will tell you what’s missing that you need to add.
- Mic permissions: On Windows/macOS, ensure the OS allows Java/Minecraft to use the microphone.
- Exclusive mode & device conflicts: Disable “exclusive mode” for your mic in Windows; close apps that hijack audio (recorders, Discord with exclusive mode). Re-select devices in the mod’s audio settings after changing OS settings.
- Wrong keybind / muted: Rebind your PTT key under Voice Chat keybinds and make sure you’re not muted in the voice UI.
Bedrock Players
This is a Java-side mod. Bedrock clients can’t load it, so use our Discord voice channels for events and team play. If Bedrock voice support becomes feasible later, we’ll update this page immediately.
